What To Expect During Your First Brazilian Wax
Your first Brazilian wax can be nerve-wracking, especially when you have no idea what to expect. I got my first Brazilian wax when I was in beauty school. It was really the only way for us to be able to learn and practice. My classmate tried her hardest, but my goodness it was rough. I honestly couldn’t even let her finish. Luckily you don’t have to be someone’s test dummy and you have made your appointment with a licensed, experienced professional.
I’ve been a licensed esthetician for the past six years and Brazilian waxing is one of my specialties. Here are a few things that you should be prepared for before your first appointment:
You are going to be touched. It’s uncomfortable, I totally get it, but you are getting your vagina waxed. Modesty will have to exit stage left. If you are in the middle of the appointment and realize that this is just too much for you, don’t be afraid to speak up. Your service could be modified to just a regular bikini wax or something in between a bikini wax and a Brazilian. Trust me, your esthetician will understand and if they don’t they aren’t the one for you.
You will be sitting in a butterfly pose for the duration of the appointment. If you aren’t flexible or disabled, speak up. There are different positions that your esthetician can put you in.
Your esthetician will cleanse, oil, and possibly powder the area to prep the skin for the wax. The oil makes sure none of the wax adheres to your skin and the powder helps absorb moisture.
EVERYONE SWEATS. Please, please don’t be embarrassed about having human bodily functions.
The Brazilian includes “the back strip”, in between your tush cheeks. It feels weird when the wax is being applied, but it’s actually the least painful part.
I hope you feel a little more prepared now. Remember to breathe and happy waxing!
